How`s and Why`s in learning Quantum Mechanics

The notes is based on courses given in PTTS and in other platforms, like in IAPT, REAP program in JN Planetarium.

Quantum mechanics is usually presented in algorithmic manner. Many "child-like" questions are not asked and one gets the impression that every thing has to be accepted.

The purported statement of Richard Feynman "No one understands Quantum Mechanics" has given liberty for students  to accept everything and lament QM is very difficult. Though, his expectation of understanding is different. But he did understand it so well as to produce an alternate formulation of quantum mechanics.

In these notes, I have presented one chapter,"The Schrodinger equation: a first introduction" in a novel way. The new feature is, it interspaced with questions by a smart student at appropriate place followed by answers by an engaging teacher.

I do hope this provides scope for students to develop critical thinking. I also hope teachers also use these questions  in their class, and encourage discussions among them.

Please mail me  pttsindia@gmail.com for any doubts and bring to my attention any typos.

In due course more chapters and different subjects will be uploaded.
